Priority 1. Advocate for Our Town
Smiths Falls’ growth and prosperity has been shaped by the efforts of many people and organizations across our community, including local agencies, County and municipal councils, volunteers, not-for-profits, businesses and other levels of government.
That same spirit of cooperation will be essential as we face the challenges ahead. Affordable housing, health care, childcare, social services and support for vulnerable residents are not issues the Town can solve alone. They require strong partnerships, shared responsibility and a willingness to work together.
During my time representing Smiths Falls at Lanark County, I have worked to keep our community’s housing and social-service needs at the table and to support investments in affordable and transitional housing, mental-health and addictions services, childcare and other essential supports.
As Mayor, I will continue to be a strong advocate for Smiths Falls at the County, provincial and federal levels, working to secure funding, strengthen partnerships and bring resources back to our community. I will also continue working closely with local agencies, not-for-profits and service providers who understand the needs of our residents firsthand. A strong community is not only about growth, but about making sure the people who live here have access to the housing, services and supports they need to thrive.
